New Orleans Art Project- Cultural and historical awareness. This project is an extension of my work with New Orleans projects like "Spirited New Orleans" (cemetery restoration) to donate www.adoptacrypt.com Here is a quote from Anne Rice- I'll buy your book immediately.
Also I hope you photographed my husband's mausoleum in the Metaire
Cemetary. His poems are inscribed in stone on the side of the little
chapel. And the stained glass window design is taken from one of his
paintings. My daughter is buried there too. -- I think with your book,
tying into a city that is severely threatened is important. New Orleans
is really in danger, and parts of it, as you well know are vanishing
forever as we speak, and more may be lost before this next season is
over.
New Orleans in the News!
This project can be adapted to many forms and functions. I had students draw the architecture of New Orleans and frame it with newspapers. I have used the same idea to frame cartoon pictures with the funny pages. Frame historical art with the archived newspapers like D-Day, 911 and others. Sports art looks great with sports page frames. Collage the frames with Mod-Podge over matt board, wood, or plastic old frames. We decorate some with squeeze paint- like for t-shirts.
Where to get newspapers... http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/pageone/ New Orleans Times-Picayune PDF images. Do an internet search for historic or other newspapers. ARCHITECTURE TO DRAW... PLEASE USE ONLY FOR TEACHING PURPOSES These are my personal photographs. The Garden District
The French Quarter
Metarie Cemetary Another cool project... please participate www.FUNDRED.org password is PAYDIRT This project is to help replenish the dirt in New Orleans. Kids participate by coloring "zillion" dollar bills. Please help. |
